NATIONAL ARTS MONTH 2023 IN LIBYA ENDS WITH ART WORKSHOP FOR KIDS
Tripoli, 27 February 2023 - As a closing to this year’s National Arts Month, the Philippine Embassy in Tripoli, Libya, conducted “π΄ππ ππ ππππππ, π΅π’πππ ππ πΊπππππ: An Art Workshop for Filipino Kids (and Kids at Heart)” last 24 February 2023. The workshop, which was organized particularly for grade school children, drew around 60 in-person and online participants from Tripoli and Benghazi, Libya.
The workshop was conducted in three sets, namely, Philippine culture, Philippine biodiversity, and international solidarity. Each set began with a mini-lecture by guest teacher, Mrs. Donnalyn “Teacher Do” Orara-Zacarias, who joined virtually from the Philippines. The participants then colored at least one coloring sheet for each set. The Philippine biodiversity set featured illustrations by Ms. Aissa Domingo of the National Museum of Natural History.
Through the art workshop, the Embassy aims to remind the participants, mostly Filipino children born and/or raised in Libya with at least one or both Filipino parents, the importance of knowing one’s identity, the importance of protecting the environment, and the value of friendship and cooperation with people of other races and backgrounds.
The art workshop is part of the Embassy’s effort to reintroduce the Filipino community in Libya to Philippine society and culture. END
