MUSLIM FILIPINOS IN TRIPOLI GATHER FOR PRAYER AT EMBASSY GROUNDS ON EID AL-ADHA
Tripoli, 09 July 2022 - Around 100 Muslim members of the Filipino Community in Libya gathered for morning salah at the Philippine Embassy grounds on the morning of Saturday, 9 July, during the occasion of this year’s Eid al-Adha or the “Festival of Sacrifice.”
After the salah and sermons, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Rowell G. Casaclang delivered a short message in Filipino.
He said, “Nais kong ipaabot ang aming taus-pusong pasasalamat sa inyong pagtugon sa aming paanyaya na idaos ang inyong selebrasyon ng Eid al-Adha dito. (I would like to extend our sincere gratitude for accepting our invitation to host your Eid al-Adha celebration here.)”
CDA Casaclang shared his thoughts on the significance of the occasion. (I am very grateful that this occasion served as a reminder to me as a Christian and above all, as a government official, of the virtues of honesty, obedience, and service to others.).
The event also had a sacrifice of karuf (sheep) and a simple breakfast served to the participants.
The Eid al-Adha holiday in Libya began on the evening of Friday, 9 July, and ended on Monday, 11 July. END
