PH Embassy Joins Filipino Muslims in Libya in Celebrating Eid’l Fitr
Tripoli, 02 May 2022 – More than a hundred Muslim members of the Filipino Community in Libya gathered at the Philippine Embassy grounds in Janzour City for the Eid’l Fitr Salah or morning prayer. The event, hosted by the Embassy, marks the end of the month-long fasting of our Muslim brothers and sisters during Ramadan.
After the Eid salah, Chargé d’Affaires Juan E. Dayang, Jr. welcomed the new students of the Islamic Call College and delivered a message greeting the Filipino Muslims during this festival of breaking the fast.
“I am very happy to see all of you once again here at the Philippine Embassy. As you know, the first Filipino community gathering we hosted when I assumed as Head of Mission of the Embassy in our new Chancery was the Eid morning prayer last year,” he said.
He added that both Muslims and Christians believe in a merciful God who shows mercy and compassion to all of us. That we are part of one human family and that The Almighty created us from love.
“Let us open the doors of our hearts, plant seeds of friendship, and build bridges. Let us spread peace, love, friendship, reconciliation, and unity, which are part of the spirit of Eid,” he concluded.
CDA Dayang also hosted the officials of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, who joined the morning prayer at the Embassy.
Attendees were treated to a simple Filipino breakfast and a variety of kakanin prepared by the Embassy. Some of the guests brought special Mindanao cuisine in the spirit of sharing. END
