Dr. Juan E. Dayang, Jr. assumed duties as Chargé d’Affaires, e.p. and Head of Mission on March 28, 2021. A career Foreign Service Officer, Jed was most recently Officer-in-Charge of the Intelligence and Security Unit of the Office of the Secretary at the Department of Foreign Affairs where he served as the Head in charge of overseeing the intelligence coordination and security management of the Department from 2019 to 2021.

He acted as Deputy Head of Mission for the Philippine Embassy in Prague, Czech Republic from February 2013 to July 2019 where he served as Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. for 2 ½ years as well as the head of the Consular Office as Minister and Consul. Previously he served in various positions such as Vice Consul and later consul and head of the Public Diplomacy at the Philippine Embassy in Seoul, Korea. In Manila, he served in the Office of ASEAN as Division Director for Summits and ASEAN Coordinating Council, Special Assistant of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs, and as Acting Director for Japan and Korea Division at the Office of Asian and the Pacific Affairs.

Prior to joining the Department of Foreign Affairs in 2000, he was Assistant Professorial Lecturer of the International Studies Department and Researcher of the Yuchengco Center for East Asia at De La Salle University from 1997 to 1999. From 1996 to 1998, he worked in Manila as a youth policy advocate and Party-List nominee of the youth party, Alliance for Youth Solidarity.

Dr. Dayang speaks Spanish and German. He holds a Doctorate in Diplomatic Studies from the Australian National University, a Masters of Public Administration from University of Oklahoma, a Masters of Business Administration from the Graduate Institute of Peace Studies, Kyung University and a Bachelor of Science in Management from San Beda College.
